A weekend retreat

My blogging seems to consist of chronicling our side trips. We've taken two recently. Both times, the weather was rainy and/or cloudy, but we thoroughly enjoyed both.
The first was to Vergennes which is north of us near Lake Champlain. This trip was planned when I read a will we were imaging where the man left money to the city to build a monument to the soldiers who had served in the Civil War from Vergennes. We didn't find the monument but we enjoyed this beautiful cemetery. It was such a bad day for pictures, but this hill overlooks a gorgeous valley with the Adirondacks in the background.
After leaving the cemetery, we went to Lake Champlain. What a beautiful place. Here we saw how the "other half" live. There were many more modern places, but we loved this one.

Our other trip was to Windsor which is east of us. We went with two other senior missionary couples who are doing the same thing we are in Augusta, Maine. We stayed in a fancy home built about 1825. Although it rained the entire weekend it was a fun trip. The slideshow chronicles that trip.

And just in case you're worried that spring hasn't yet reached us, Garth photographed this beautiful bush outside the Windsor house.
